Suggestions Dispersed Camping - Sequoia National Forest

Post by grizzlyadamsbeard »

I will be making my first trip up to Sequoia National Forest and as such I am interested to hear what your suggestions for dispersed camping locations are. I am going with a group of 4, all avid outdoorsmen/women. We would prefer to be near a body of water or stream, and off the beaten path especially with the memorial day rush ahead of us. Thanks in advance!

Well Sequoia National Forest covers a very large area so it's hard to point at anything specific but it's covered in miles of forest roads that offer plenty of places to set up a tent.

As he said.

Dispersed is a little vague. Are you talking about backpacking? or car camping?

My apologies for the lack of clarifying information. We would prefer to backpack. We are also ok with different sites each of the two nights, and a few mile hike between. Thanks again!

As Rogue pointed out.....the area you wish to visit is very large with countless spectacular hikes, and virtually every hike has water. Did you mean to say Sequoia National park?

HI Grizzlyadamsbeard,

Welcome to HST! Have you checked this out: http://www.fs.usda.gov/activity/sequoia ... 3&actid=34" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Have a safer backcountry experience by using the HST ReConn Form 2.0, named after Larry Conn, a HST member: http://reconn.org

Thank you. I have looked through that information. I know my posts have been vague other than SNF and my groups ability, however in doing so I was hoping that people would post up their "favorite" hike-in locations or campsites rather than my specifying a certain region of the National Forest as I am open to it all. Hoping for first hand knowledge rather than picking a random spot on a map and heading out (which also has its own huge upside).
