Woman Sierra backpacking groups

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Woman Sierra backpacking groups

Post by Vickster »

Does anyone know about any all-woman backpacking groups that do Sierra trips? I'm open to a group that goes other places but Sierra-centric would be better!
Thanks!

Call of the Wild, founded by Carole Latimer has a great reputation, not only for their trips, but for their food. (Carole wrote Wilderness Cuisine, my favorite backpacking cookbook.)

Here's their website:

http://www.callwild.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I noticed they only have one Sierra trip listed on the site so I don't know if their focus has changed. They used to do many more from a few days to two weeks.
I don’t need a goal destination. I need a destination that meets my goals.

I can't make any personal recommendations, but I do know that such trips exist. My wife and I passed such a group last year near Garnet Lake in the Ansel Adams Wilderness...
