Overdue Hiker - Do You Have Any Info?

Use this forum to stay informed on missing persons alerts, active SAR's and unfortunate hiker accidents we can all hopefully learn from. Any information you may have on a missing person, including first hand weather related information or any other insight (however little) may prove to be critical information to Law Enforcement / SAR in locating the person in question.

Hi Caveman,

Thanks for posting the picture and the info. If you mean verified as in knowing the make and model than yes, if you mean found than no.
Can either you or DP Hiker or eee333 tell me what rain gear Larry had of late? Make and color? Any current picture would be great. Also what shirt and pants, make and colors he may have had for this hike? This info would also be helpful.
Would any of you be the hiker he was planning to take along from Birch Lake to Amphitheater Basin next year? I need any info he may have discussed in regards to
the proposed route. If it was neither of you, do you know who? Please PM me! Thank you.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Last night, local station KCAL 9 in LA aired a story on the search for Larry (since Larry is a resident of Pacific Palisades). His friend Claus was interviewed and they showed several shots of Claus at his computer, browsing this thread.
Good to see that the word got out to the media.

Fellow Members,

I need any photo you can supply on Split, below Split, Upper Basin, Middle and Lower Blanco, and lakes skirting Pinchot Pass area.
Not close ups but landscapes for recon purposes (photo that show terrain and possible routes) I have photo's of some of the areas but did not have a camera while visiting
some of these places back 25-30 years ago or the slides were destroyed. Some people just visualize better with a photo of an area, not everyone can see the land/terrain
by using a topo alone like some of us here.
Please upload to wildernessapertures@gmail.com
Thank you for your help.

Don't forget that you can get right down and pan around in the whole area with GOOGLE EARTH. And there are many pictures there too.

Since I have a collection of photos of those areas I would just sort through these two sets for any photo that may be useful:

The article mentions that another hiker, Matthew Hansen, is missing on the western side of the Sierras. The search is going on near Shaver Lake. Does anyone have more details about this?
