Punctured Bearikade bottom

Post by rlown »

Recently, a friend of mine somehow punctured the bottom of his Bearikade. A clear sharp puncture from setting it down over a sharp piece of granite and then dropping his body weight on it.

Anyway, He called Wild Ideas and they'll replace the bottom for 20 bucks (dunno about shipping). I guess they heat up the epoxy, slip it off and put a new one on with new epoxy. I'm guessing he can say good-bye to any stickers near the bottom.

Still trying to teach him how to take care of his equipment.

too bad about the stickers! I just added a few more to mine.

Heading to to Isle Royale next week with the canister - wolves up there, and apparently they have turned to hiker food since the moose are dying out.

I always wondered how fragile the aluminum plates were. guess I now know what not to do!

They do point out that you should not put it on any small rocks before you sit on it. That's not a bad price to replace it though.

I've never considered putting any stickers on mine. I've had it for 4 years now and it's just black. #-o

There is one sticker that you should put on your can:

I have 2 stickers left unused. I have one on the can and the other on my truck.

Eric would be the guy to send you some, but if no response, I'll pony one up for you.
