Ya never know what yer gonna see!

Post by oldranger »

This am Kathy and I took off for a quick trip to Green Lakes. Like California we have experienced wild fire and lots of smoke but a cold front came in last night and blew the smoke away. Unlike the sierra the Cascades from Central Oregon up into Washington had an above average snow year. The morning was perfect for hiking--mid 50s all the way up and only up to 70 on the way down. We expected that we might see some snow and we did and we noticed an unusually thick carpet of lupine bordering the trail on the way up but some how we missed this until the return trip.

On return to town we had a late lunch at Bend's newest Brewery, Crux Fermentation then brought home a growler to enjoy some at home. A good day!

Who can't do everything he used to and what he can do takes a hell of a lot longer!

Wow! What a difference a few weeks make. Here is close to the same spot, July 29.
