I'm breaking in a new backpacking partner, so we went on a short overnight trip to Treasure Lakes. Our original plan was to hike in on Saturday, but we decided to wait one day to let the cold front move through.
The hike in took about 2 hours and was uneventful. There were no downed trees and just a couple of small snow patches to cross. When we reached the lower Treasure Lakes we decided to camp there. Spent the rest of the day exploring the lower bowl and fishing.
Overnight temperature dropped to 31F. No skeeters.

No forced 12 hr march? No painful shoulders or huge blisters? No 'skeeters? Just beautiful scenery and good fishing to contend with?
What are you trying to do!? With more trip leaders like you to shepherd new backpackers the Sierra will be overrunning with people!

Thanks for the report - I've been thinking of heading in to Treasure Lakes; so it's nice to get a look at the area in advance.

What really got me chuckling about Ska-T's response is that originally we were going to go with cloudlesssky on his trip to Rocky Basin. If you read his report you'll see that he did undertake a 12 hour march into skeeters.Ska-T wrote:No forced 12 hr march? No painful shoulders or huge blisters? No 'skeeters?
