I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Horseshow Meadows road condition? I read a post earlier this week(yesterday on another board) that the Ranger Station gave information that the gate opening would not make it for this weekend due to rockfall still being cleared. They were hoping before "next" weekend, but were unable to commit a promise. Any first hand knowledge?

Hi TC,

My source also says it will not open this weekend, there is no date set for Horseshoe
Meadow as of yet. Whitney Portal Road is open now.

I'm mainly waiting for info on the Mineral King road. The park site says June 21st and may open sooner if weather permits.

Better open sooner! I can't handle the extra weight to start at another trail head.

Got a copy of this email on May 4 about the MK road:

Here are a few more details on the Mineral King road condition, compliments of Michael Botkin (via Jana--be sure and visit her web site at http://www.cabinart.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)!

I suspect that within the week the road will be passable to the valley, even without the help of big yellow machines.

That's good news. I couldn't imagine it staying closed so late.

Various facilities at Mineral King will open soon (weather-permitting). The road to Mineral King and Atwell Mill Campground are expected to be open by 12 noon on May 24. The Mineral King Ranger Station will open on May 25. In addition, Cold Springs Campground will open on June 1.

Sounds like my timing will be perfect for Cold Springs.
