Snow condition and tips

Post by loic »

Hello everybody !

We just moved in California from France. We do a lot of backcountry ski (Alps and Pyrenees) and other outdoor sports.

We leave LA tomorrow for 5 days in the High Sierra with Ice axes, crampons ...
We were wondering if we should bring the backcountry skis ? According to the weather forecasts, there is not that much snow in the high Sierra ?

What do you think ?
Do you have good website (other than this one ;) ) to check before a good ski tour ? (snow/avalanche conditions)

Thank you for your help, hope we ll see some of you in the Sierra this winter/spring
