Great report and photos. That view of Bench L./Taboose/Split from Arrow is as classic as the usual view of Arrow from Bench. I was there in 1997 and the photos from there look as if taken from a plane. Of course the views are great from Split, too.
Since my fishing (etc.) website is still down, you can be distracted by geology stuff at: http://www.fresnostate.edu/csm/ees/facu ... ayshi.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks everyone!

@mokelumnekid of course I remember meeting you guys. That was one of the best trips I've ever done - I can't wait to get back to Bear Lakes basin someday. But Lake Basin is still on the list ahead of it since we weren't able to get in there.

I actually think we probably could have safely gotten down but we were just wiped out and with the snow icing over we just didn't want to make any stupid mistakes.

I don't think I'd make it there in a day from Taboose, but I think I could get out. It really wasn't too bad coming down from Lake 3535, we just got a late start thinking that we were going to camp somewhere around taboose that night.

@bikebones were you the guy camped between us and the lake? I think we talked to you a few days later as we were coming out of Upper Basin. Small world. We should have a secret HST handshake or something. :D

@Calipidder --- yes, that was me between you and the lake and again a few days later as you were coming out of the upper basin area. It's definitely a small world, which is why I love this website. Wish we'd had it back in the 70's - 80's when I was a younger sprout hiking up there.

Again, thanks for posting the photos and your TR. You guys had your trip dialed in really nicely and got to see a lot of gorgeous ground. It's always nice to read another perspective.

Great report and photos. In 2001, I did a similar trip over Taboose, the lake below Cartridge Pass, and Bench Lake. I managed to get a Toyota Tercel up the Taboose road, but I'm not sure I want to try that again.
I don’t need a goal destination. I need a destination that meets my goals.
