Memorial Info Request

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Memorial Info Request

Post by ManOfTooManySports »

This is a long shot....

I've heard a rumor that there is some sort of memorial to a friend from the Pasadena area who died in the Sierra in the late 1970's. His name was Steve Sheppard. He was in his late-teens or early twenties when he died. From what I remember, he was a pioneer in snow camping, but got hypothermia and died trying to get back to his car.

The rumor I heard is that there is a geographic feature named after him, formally or informally, or there is a small memorial to him somewhere in the Sierra. Does anyone have any knowledge of this? Did anyone know Steve?

Thanks!
