East Lake stream/river crossing

Post by bravefanla »

I'm trying to get accurate/up-to-date information about the East Lake river/stream crossing. This trail is accessed from Junction Meadow (Cedar Grove/Roads End). I'm heading up for a 4 night hike in mid-August. Thanks for any news.

We checked it out on Monday, July 25. (We knew you would ask.) It looked doable, but only if you are strong and experienced. Very swift, rough water. And it looked pretty deep, maybe waist deep. You could not see the bottom for all the churn. I would seriously consider a fixed line. I'd also look up and downstream for a wider, calmer spot.

I would take the advice of someone who has actually tried it over my look-and-bailed review.
