Piute Pass & Humphreys Basin

Post by norak »

Hello,

We're thinking of doing 3-4 day trip next week over Piute Pass and exploring Humphreys Basin. I'm gathering from other posts that the pass shouldn't be a problem but wondered about the basin area in terms of snow coverage and stream crossings. If someone has been there recently, would appreciate hearing about it, also about the mosquitoes. We have never been in that particular area and if people have recommendations for particularly beautiful spots, would be glad to hear them too. We're fairly experienced backpackers, though mostly on trail - a little bit of CC here and there.

Thanks very much!

Lakes are still thawing, lots of snow fields further East in the basin. Crossings not an issue.
