Resupply information

Post by RoguePhotonic »

Looking through the forums I notice permanent threads for maps and such so I thought what about an information thread for resupply locations throughout the Sierra? Such as location, time of year typically open, cost, address, how to address packages, how to send (USPS, UPS, Fedex etc...), how long the location will hold your package and website link if available.

Any thoughts on this notion?

I'm comfortable with that. If you want to start the thread in the Backpacking/Hiking section, one of the Admins will pin it to the top.

Sorry I never got around to making a list. I started it but just got too busy. I'll have to do it later in the year or someone else can start it.

This site has the re-supply locations, and a lot more additional information
for the Sierra section http://www.pcta.org/planning/before_trip/strategy.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Regarding the Muir Trail (most resupply questions), I posted the relevant info on my web site. I didn't post info on packers, but one could add the pack station at Onion Valley as a possible pickup location. The last two years this service was available, although there are always questions about that place having a permit to operate the next season and actually being staffed.

JMT resupply links are top right column:
