On Saturday we backpacked up to Dry Lake and then day hiked up to Mineshaft Saddle to check out conditions for the hike on Sunday to the summit of San Gorgonio. From Mineshaft Saddle it didn't look like it would be too bad a hike to San Gorgonio. After a chilly night at Dry Lake we day hiked up to Mount San Gorgonio's summit via Mine Shaft Saddle and then on up from there. There was just enough snow to make staying on the trail difficult, so the route was a bit more direct than normal. On the way back out to the Southfork Trailhead on Sunday (yesterday), I saw 3 bears in "Horsie" Meadows. I guess I just missed a 4th bear. They were beautiful, but my pictures turned out a bit blurry.
