San Gorgonio via Vivian Creek Trail

Post by Ratboy »

Decided to give the trail a try in spite of recent postings about snow levels...being that this was the third time going, I was determined to make the summit. I made it, but my friend who was slower and falling behind, waited and took a nap on the crest above High Creek.

May 20, 2006...set out on a great day. Hit the switchbacks around 9 am, a little later than I desired but that is what it was. We returned to the car at 9:30 pm. Slow as we go, but we were prepared with lamps, just in case.

The day was clear and warm, a great day to hike. There was little to no snow along the trail and on the summit. Winds were calm and consistent, a nice breeze.

Bottom line, the VCT is one heck of a hike. Having also done Skyline (C2C), I must say this was a bit tougher because of the return.

Absolutley a beautiful hike.
