2011 Skeeter Reports

Post your reports here...
"The scale from previous years has worked out perfectly, so guess we'll keep on using it:"
1 - No mosquitos or there are some, but not biting yet
2 - Very light during the day, moderate at dawn and dusk
3 - Moderate during the day, heavy at dawn and dusk
4 - Heavy during the day, heavy at dawn and dusk
5 - Unbearable all day, no breaks, cannot eat outside of tent. If you stop, hundreds
will land on you; when looking thru a camera viewfinder, you see more skeeters than
lake. If you slapped your arm, you'd smear blood from all the dead gorged bodies.

OK, here is a repeat of my report. Fall Creek above Feather Falls - a bit less than 2,000 feet elevation, slightly annoying mosquitoes dusk and dawn at campsite next to creek. Last night, not too bad; this morning seemed like more hatched. I am a mosquito magnet, so take my report with a grain of salt. A week ago near Lake Berryessa, we had no mosquitoes at all.

What does 2 years in a row typically do to the skeeter population the 2nd year? I honestly don't remember.

Yosemite Valley update: They're out - enough to drive me inside to eat dinner around 7:00 p.m. I would rate the Valley a 2 right now.
