Sierra Related Name Ideas for Eric's Baby

Eric, HST Founder/Owner, and his wife, are having a baby that is due in July as some
of you may know by reading some recent posts.
I thought it would be fun to come up with some cool Sierra related names.
Let's hear what girl/boy names (2 max) you can come up with, middle names
can be included, and who knows, we could up come up with some winners.

Also, have any of you, or any one you know, name there children after something Sierra
related (lake, peak, whatever)?

My wife likes the ever-so-original "Sierra" as a middle name.

My poor first child got an oddball name (we were hippies). To this day everyone pronounces it wrong and spells it wrong. She hated it as a teen. She went on to name all three of her kids odd names. Go figure. My rule after my experience, pick a name that won't cause trauma when they are 13! It also helps if they do not have to tell everyone how to spell it for the rest of their lives. And of course, be sure to "google" the name! Someone once told me to pick a name that would be suitable for a Supreme Court judge with a nickname suitable for a kid.

You could name them after a person who is significant in the Sierra - for example, John Muir, Joseph LeConte. I also like Merriam (cannot remember her last name). This way the name is both of a geographical feature and a historically significant person.

Not that I'm suggesting this for Eric of course, but I've always thought Tehipite Jones would be the perfect name for a porn starlet [oh my -- it wasn't that bad. Rhymes with "corn"]. Maybe Dingleberry Tom, if it's a boy.

Personally, my favorite Sierra name is a rather obscure one: Petite Griffon. You'd have to enroll her in French immersion school.

Judy and I once seriously considered a Sierra-oriented name for our first born and then went with a conventional name. There is a great story on a Sierran name for kid, though, that inspired Judy and I so much we initially thought of giving our children Sierra names. Sometime in the mid 90's we were returning eastward over Lamarck Col. We encountered 3 generations of guys: a 7-year-old, his dad, and his grandad. The 7-year-old is the strongest kid I've ever seen in the mountains. He was carrying a pack that looked bigger than him, but making it look easy. His only problem came in the "snow groove" through the summit snowfield. It was so deep compared to his leg length that his pack hung up on the sides of the groove and his feet wouldn't touch the bottom, so his grandad helped him over that part. One the way up to the pass from the west he had vaporized his dad, and once off the snowfield he left his dad in the dust. Grandpa, though, was in good shape, so the boy bounded up to hike with him. The old man said "maybe you should go back and keep your dad company.". Needless to say the boy kept motoring on. At a rest stop Judy and I talked to the three of them. It turned out that dad and his wife (who had a bad knee and wasn't along on the trip) had backpacked all over the place in their childless years and loved the Evolution-Lamarck Col area most of all. They decided that one day when they had a kid, that the kid's first name would be "Darwin" and the middle name "Lamarck". In any case, Darwin Lamarck (don't remember last name) is the one Sierra-named kid I've met and he was awesome.

I have a daughter named Sierra Dawn (conceived in the Sierra and born at dawn) and a granddaughter named Sequoia (I have no idea what her parents were thinking but it is probably better than Kings Canyon). Actually I quite like the name.
