Is there light at the end of the weather tunnel?

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

from dmatt's forecast:
As of this morning, Mammoth Mountain reported 589 inches of snow for the season. The magic 600, and the highest snowfall in recorded history, is just around the corner.
Very impressive.. now let's hope it doesn't all melt at once.

right, otherwise will have floods in the Valley like in 96.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

I was looking at the dam data lately. Looks like most are open 5 times normal for this time of year. I guess a great levee test.

Can you look and see what the levels were in 96-97 when we had the floods?

Possibly worse than '96. Was on a DWR conference call earlier this week where comparison to '82-'83 was brought up more than once.

promising, '96 was bad enough.
