Dinkey lakes trip

Post by mtn.horhe »

Well I ended up going to Dinkey Lakes (Cliff lake trail-head) instead of Rae lake after thinking about what everyone said and i am really glad that i did. The guy i went with thought that the Cliff lakes trail was difficult and long and i know he probably would have have been turned off forever if we went the long haul to Rae lake. He almost wanted to turn back, but decided to keep going and once he saw cliff lake his attitude changed completely. We ended up only going to Cliff lake, Rock lake and then to Little lake, but still a great time. I was really glad that he ended up enjoying it and i am know that he would want to go again. Thanks to those who talked me out of Rae lake

I was up there last weekend too - taking a first timer! And a couple of others. We got 3 miles in to Swede Lake, and for us it was the hills...

Good to hear it went well. \:D/

Glad you both had a good time.

Thanks for the report and I'm glad it was a good trip. Dinkey is certainly an attractive destination from Fresno. You don't happen to fish, do you? Little Lake is the only lake in the main Dinkey loop which I haven't visited, mostly because it's supposed to have only small fish.

Ya we did fish and little lake did hold fish from what we could see, but water is very shallow most of the way around. The fish we saw were like less than 4 inches. We didn't catch any fish at little lake but did and cliff and rock lake so we were a little disappointed to get skunked at this lake. :crybaby:

Here are some of the pictures from around little lake

Nice color on those brookies.

My friend fished for the first time ever. On this third cast he got the biggest fish I've ever seen out of the Dinkey Lakes. Only ever got small ones in Mystery, and then there was this guy.
