Looking forward to the second half Dave.
Cvr I agree with you on Ashley, it is an overlooked lake which is quite beautiful, and
does not get close to as much attention as 1000 Is, Minaret, or Ediza, which may be
a good thing.

Re: Beck Lakes
Crude flatbed scans of a few modest 4x5 Provia 100F transparencies:
150mm Nikor 8am August 6, 2010 Upper Beck Lake, red mountain heather, arctic willow and turf.
150mm Nikor 9am August 6 Upper Beck Lake, corn lily, aster, paintbrush, senecio, yarrow, mountain hemlock.
90mmm Caltar 5pm August 6 Lower Beck Lake, Piersson's paintbrush, white heather, red mountain heather, cinquefoil. In the background is the 600 foot length of dangerous steep metavolcanic talus and scree along the shoreline guaranteed to filter out all but billygoats.
150mm Nikor 8:30am August 7 Noname Lake and Iron Mountain.
Small crop of slide of Minaret Lake from 2 miles south atop ridge above Superior Lake.

Re: Beck Lakes
Thanks Dave for the second half of photo's.
Did you have chance to get up to that higher lake?
How did the sunrise photo's turn out from Nancy Pass and the ridge?
Were you happy with your Big Agnes UL1? What were the pluses and minuses?

Re: Beck Lakes
Great set of pictures especially the ones with the wildflowers. One of these summers I've got to get over to that part of the Sierra. Thanks for sharing them!

Re: Beck Lakes
A 3000 pixel wide jpg of the Minarets from the ridge above Superior Lake posted over at Summitpost. One of several exposures I made from up thar. Mouse select the small default image.

Didn't bother climbing up to that pond. The FC UL1 was simple enough to quickly set up and take down. Still don't understand how to guy the sides of the fly correctly yet and intend to make a modification. Have only crudely tested the Gossamer polycro ground sheet for holes at this point and after 4 days of use it did have at least two minor punctures and a couple small holes.
