Where do you get canvas prints?

Post by windknot »

I'm thinking about getting a recent photograph or two printed and stretched onto canvas as gifts. Anyone have any recommendations? It looks like Costco is generally the cheapest place to get it done ($39.99 for a 12"x16", $49.99 for a 16"x20", $54.99 for an 18"x24", all with a 1.5" depth).

Thanks!
Matt

I am excited to hear everyone's recommendations. I really want to do a few canvas prints, but I hate the costs.

Those are some good rates, and would be hard to beat compared to on-line
services.
You may want to check out Aaron Brothers, they have buy one get the second for
2 cents sale going on right now, though I do not this applies to canvas, if they do
them at all.

Never printed a canvas print yet, but I've heard good things about Pixel2Canvas.

Thanks for the responses, guys. I decided to go with Costco to get this shot I took in Dusy Basin last week printed and stretched onto a 16"x32" canvas for a birthday present for my dad:

Nice shot, I'm sure your dad will enjoy it Matt.
Were you satisfied with Costco's work?

Sorry, didn't see this until now. Costco did a decent job, but I need to make sure to calibrate my screen brightness and color composition with Costco's printers in the future since the print turned out a bit darker than how the shot looks on my computer.

Matt,

Before I do really large prints I always do a medium size 8x10 or 8x12 (whatever is as close to how I want it cropped or in proportion to the ultimate product. I also do cropping to match costco's print size. Even when I do it on 4x6 for non computer relatives I have found critical differences in my desired product and what was produced. Anyhow I also do this to see if I have to tweak the photo or even if it is good enough to spend big bucks on a large print. Maverick might have some other Ideas for dealing with Costco.
