November 8, 2005 MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN, CA - The anticipation has been building since July. On Thursday, November 10, at 8:30am, Mammoth Mountain Ski Area will kick off another epic winter season. Mammoth will give eager skiers and boarders a chance to enjoy early November turns when it opens Broadway Express and the surrounding trails. Additional runs and chairlifts will operate as conditions permit.

Mother Nature had great timing, as a winter storm started on Monday morning and dropped eight inches of snow on the mountain. Forecasters are predicting the storm will continue through Wednesday, likely letting up for the ideal Opening Day: a sunny powder day. Snowmakers took advantage of low temperatures last week and have blown 12-18 inches of snow on Broadway, giving Mammoth a solid base for the start of the season.

Mammoth will host an Opening Celebration on Saturday, November 12. The Broadway Marketplace at Main Lodge will make its debut after its $4 million renovation, with an updated menu and new features that are sure to make it one of the best places to grab a bite on the mountain. The ceremonious ribbon cutting, complete with a champagne toast, will take place at 11am.

Other activities on Saturday include the Forum Youngblood Rail Jam, live music and more. A detailed schedule follows:

OPENING CELEBRATION - SATURDAY NOVEMBER 12

# 10:30am - Forum Youngblood Rail Jam
# 11am - Broadway Marketplace Ribbon Cutting & Champagne Toast
# 11:30am - 3:30pm - Tungsten City Band
# 1-3pm - Complimentary Ski and Snowboard Tips
# 2pm - Free Hot Dogs (while supplies last)
