Anyone been to Rosebud Lake in the Mono Divide?

Post by maverick »

I would like to know from anyone who has visited these lakes whether the views towards
Seven Gables is unobstructed, though being 400-500 feet higher than the next ridge I
would presume it is, and if the smaller lakes/ponds offer good photo potentials. Thanks

Bumping this up to see if anyone has any 411 on the views from the lake.
Apollo Lake is already on the revisit list since I know the views from here towards
the Gables are great, but this lake (Rosebud Lake) looks intriguing (and it is calling me).

I've never been there, but I hope to fix that either this year or next with a loop from the Hoopers to Apollo/Orchid/Cirque via Crazy Pass, checking out Rose and Rosebud along the way.

Hi Mav,

Here is a picture of Rose Lake. Rosebud is the small upper Lake you see in the picture.

That would be negative. We camped at Rose Lake then went over Crazy Pass. The picture was taken on our ascent up to Crazy Pass. Rose Lake is awesome. Worth a trip there and spend a layover exploring the basin.

Here are some more pictures of the area.

Hi Cmon4day

Would you by any chance have a shot towards the Gables from above Rose Lake?

Hi Mav,

The western slope of 7 Gables can be seen in the picture with Rosebud. It is the biggest mountain with a little bit of snow on it
