Anyone walk the crest of the Sweetwater's?

Okay- I know this isn't the Sierra proper (moderator's- feel free to bump this), but it is darn close, and some could argue, based on vague beer-fueled geological arguments that it might be considered the next of kin. It looked interesting and I recall somewhere once reading that it is doable. But who has done it?

These days when I drive south from Reno I usually take the eastern cut-off to Wellington, then south to Bridgeport. This gives nice views of the Sweetwater Range, with access roads right there. (BTW, the reason I go this way is that all the fire damage in the Antelope Valley-Coleville-Walker area, and the flood damage in the West Walker Canyon, is too depressing.)

I’ve done both Mt Patterson and Wheeler Peak on two different trips

Patterson was about a 20 mile drive (from the west) before hiking. I missed the sign at the end of the road (hidden on a tree trunk, broken and not clearly visible) and drove a mile past where I should have parked. It was scary driving to where I could turn around (could not back up, too exposed). It was terrifying driving down. Had visions of rolling the Rubi and not being found (solo).

Wheeler is a drive up if you have 4WD. We went in from the east. We were going to drive to Patterson after walking up Wheeler, but got stuck in snow (2 hrs of digging and it was getting cold)

Both were fun trips, with beautiful colors in the rock.
