WW, that is the night I drove up to Mountain Home in order to shoot the dogwood. When I came over Pacheco Pass there was a long line of lightning happening in the Sierra foothills east of Madera and as I later drove across the valley on 152 and then down 99 it seem to be moving your way. About 1am I reached Sequoia NF on the Balch Park road and pulled over on a dirt spur road to sleep in my Subu. Was sort of spooky as I was wondering if I would wake up in the middle of some huge forest fire given all the lightning. Was a bit wet all over the next morning and stayed that way all day due to continuous cloud fog backing up against that high ridge. Guess that is why the sequoias do well there too.
After I got home, remember seeing that nice pond shot you'd taken with the dual trunk sequoia. I saw that too but it was way too foggy at the time. The other day I picked up a 24x30 inch Lightjet print of one image I selected from that trip to add to my website image index. Big print looks very nice. Dogwood, thimbleberry, sequoia, cloud fog:
