Is your insurance company dropping your home coverage?

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Is your insurance company dropping your home coverage?

Post by hikerduane »

Because of where you choose to live, has your home insurance company raised your rates or dropped you because you live in a high fire hazard area? My local paper had ran a story last Fall and had another story, online about this problem. http://www.plumasnews.com/news_story.edi?sid=6637

Luckily, it seems my carrier hasn't chosen to drop me or raise rates. My renewal is due the middle of next month and is close to last years rate. Seems Allstate is dropping folks. The story mentions one of my neighbors who had Allstate insurance.

Have you made 100' of defensible space around your house? I'm not quite there.
Piece of cake.

Almost deleted this thread and banned you for SPAM after reading the title and first line of this thread... Sounded like a late night TV advert...

Thank you, didn't know if it would fly with the negative words about Allstate.:) Did I tell you, my neighbor who was mentioned, was a former cop in LA and is now a Southern Baptist preacher man? His personalized license reads "Cuff em".:)
Piece of cake.
