Dennis, are you ok?

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Hi Snowy:

We received one inch of rain in the Alabama's on Saturday night (in a 2 hour period) and another 3/8 " (in a 1/2 hour period) on Sunday night, but all is wet by OK.

How did you do up on Whitney?

Thanks,

Dennis

Cool, I thought you lived in Independence, and saw that you had not posted since Fri. Glad you're ok.

I was at Whitney Portal when when the storm hit. We got updates while waiting it out and heard about Independence. There was a rock slide at the upper switchback that blocked the WP road. The loaders cleared one lane for us to get out by 11:30pm.

Made the summit, up the MR and down the main trail, but didn't get the other peaks due to sketchy weather. Took it slow, but was 2 hrs faster than last year (did not bonk early trying to keep up with long legged beasties). 13 hrs and no soreness, aches or pains!!! Got out just as the storm was starting to let loose. Working on pix now.
