Your best photo in 2005

Post by copeg »

Wingding's recent post of her pic got me thinking, if you could choose just one photo you took in 2005, which is your favorite?

Its hard, and some of my not so photogenic pics are amongst my favorites. But if I had to choose one, I'd choose this one:

Very nice image, trailblazer!

Well I don't really have a favorite per se either, but here's one my wife really likes. She bought me a Canon 20D for my birthday right before we were married just so I wouldn't back out and here's one of the first trips I took with it, which isn't really a backpacking image, it's of Eagle Falls during spring runoff at Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe. It was a stormy day and the rain let up in the evening and provided a wonderful sunset. I photoshopped out the huge chinook salmon leaping in the falls, as well as the grizzly bears trying to catch them because I felt it detracted from the overall image.

Not my best photo ever, not the glorious light in your photos, and taken with a low-res digital camera...but I liked the mood it captured - a view along Hetch Hetchy, on our way to TilTill Valley:

My best from 2005, Garnet and Ediza Lakes...respectively, August 2005.

But my personal favorite was my wife smiling while returning on her first backpacking trip up the North Fork of Big Pine Creek, September 2005.

All were taken with a Canon PowerShot A85 4.0 megapixel on medium setting.

Tough choice, but I'll go with this one. My favorite because of the lighting and more importantly (for me), the fact that I was able to get down to the edge of the water to actually take the shot. My thanks to two unknown photographers who graciously carried my gear for me.

I didn't get into the Sierras as much as I would have liked before moving to Colorado and you've all seen my CO shots I posted, so here's as close as I can get to the Sierras. Mt. Shasta:
