Mount Lewis info needed

Hi all,
I'm considering a late-summer dayhike to the summit of Mt Lewis (just east of Yosemite NP), following this route:
1. Start at the Mono Pass trailhead
2. Shortly before Mono Pass, go right (south) on the trail that goes towards Parker Pass
3. Leave this trail at some point and go cross-country to the Mt Lewis summit

My question is about the cross-country leg. I've see photos people have posted, and the landscape is barren, to say the least. There don't appear to be any landmarks to indicate where to leave the trail and where to make any turn(s) between leaving the trail and reaching the summit.

Can anybody provide any info that will help me navigate this leg of the hike? I have the old (before National Geographic) "Yosemite, Mammoth, and Central Sierra" TOPO! software, so I would be able to view a route on a .tpo file and GPS coordinates for waypoints on a .tpg file if anybody could send these file(s) to steve_moran86@hotmail.com. Hi Steve

I have not climb this peak, but Secor says its an easy class 1 from Parker
or Mono Pass.
From your topo I would head up towards the lake above Parker on the topo
and then follow the creek that drains into that lake.
Then continue straight up, parallel to Mt.Lewis till I get to the 11500 ft
contour line on the map and then turn and head straight for the summit.

I think we left the trail where the red mark is, and headed for the “11” of 11,600 on the map. Just make your way to the summit.
