Black Kaweah q

Post by thegib »

Hey all,

Has anyone climbed Black Kaweah from Pyra-Queen col? Or could someone direct me to an account of that? I remember reading the BK register years ago and Elizabeth Wenk causally mentioned she downclimbed it on the way to Red, but I'd like a little more detail to dissuade me from trying.
Thanks for any help!

I looked at RougePhotonic/Chris Ryerson's beautiful photos and there's a notch on the ridge that'll probably block me, and I note that Carl Heller/Bob Rockwell, who've done it before, are way better climbers than me... But if someone's got good beta I'm interested.

You should talk to Joe from Mtn Rambler Brewery he did a big trip up there last summer peak bagging along the Kaweah's with a Wht Mtn research buddy of ours. But roguephotonic has the best pics! there is also a few trips from the backside of the kaweah basin, poke around.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Thanks Maverick,

It's been years since I was over P-Q Col and I must have blocked the view out of my mind. SeanO's description above is valuable, I shoulda checked there.
