Don't retire your Garcia Machine canister yet

Post by hikerduane »

On another small bping forum I belong too, another long time member posted about his experience while getting a rental canister at EMS back east for a trip in the Adirondacks. He was told while he was renting a Bear Vault, that the black bears back there have learned how to breach a BV canister. Seems the bears are biting the lid along the side and twisting it off. The employee at the EMS said so far about 18 BV's of all styles have failed. Back to the drawing board for the BV guys I guess. He was joking in his post that the eastern black bears were jealous about a recent article in BPer about Yosemite bears being smarter.

Will the bears figure them all out sometime?
Piece of cake.

Actually an appliance Ben & Jerry's came up with for backpackers who want to make another variation of cherry ice cream on the trail.

Use the Ursack TKO w/insert for a large weight savings.
Piece of cake.
