Bubb's Creek Crossing To East Lake

Post by ExploreABitMore »

Has anybody crossed Bubb's Creek, on the way up to East Lake recently? I may head that way in a couple weeks, but I've heard it can be pretty tough even in September of a big snow year?

Thanks for any info.

I have a couple of friends who just out that way climbing and said they crossed without issue. I believe they crossed just upstream of the trail crossing.

Thanks, did they mention how deep/swift? Did they use a log crossing?

Also, forgot to ask, but if anyone has info on the cornice at Longley Pass, that would be useful too.

It was about knee-deep where they crossed. It looks like it was actually at or near the trail (from photo). They just forded/crossed it. They also were able to negotiate Longley Pass by down climbing a short class 3 section. I'll see if I can prod one of the guys to post a TR.

I'm writing up a TR. We crossed Bubbs at the trail last week. Water to the crotch, single pole with just 5 hard steps. The cornise is nada, use trail will show the way. The fun will be making your way up from Reflection. Enjoy.

Thanks for the info henryfk, much appreciated! Sounds like the water crossing will be the tough part for me. I'm a wimp when it comes to water crossings, but sounds doable. I'm not going for a couple more weeks, so maybe it will mellow even more by then
