I am too old for your lingo! In our day, "bananas" meant bullxxxx. So, what do you really mean?

Obviously it will become a paid only feature; those trial balloons always do that. It is pretty amazing, though. It still says little about the condition of the snow, depth, but it truly is a good starting point for trip planning. The fact that it is weekly is a downfall. During the melt, a week makes a big difference.

It's cool, but it will lure people with false hopes into a soggy adventure... already reminding folks that water is more dangerous than postholing right now...

That's pretty cool. You can also go directly to the Sentinel site and by clicking on "Effects" you can have it show the date the imagery was captured superimposed over terrain and by clicking on the calendar you can change the view to various dates:

Thanks! I can't be the only one eagerly awaiting the 6/26 update for a few places I'm looking at for the holiday weekend.

Weird. I was playing with CalTopo today, stumbled on this, and posted to the snow resources sticky thread wondering why no one had mentioned it. I had no idea it just went live yesterday! I like pinning both the topo and satellite layers so you can use the opacity slider to fade between snow and topo/trails:
