Just wanted to tell Doyle how much his ST issues help me through tough times. I haven't gotten into the Sierra's much lately and his reports help feel a void. I just read the "solo Trip to the Silver Divide" issue.
Thanks Doyle!
Thank you Doyle!

Re: Thank you Doyle!
You're welcome. Helps me too. :^) I did not get out as much this year as I wanted due to work, a long lasting virus and other things.mountaineer wrote:Just wanted to tell Doyle how much his ST issues help me through tough times. I did finally do all the leg work (and pictures) for a future story, "The Lyell Fork of the Merced River", and I have been writing it up: I am at the middle of the second to last day. Lots of pictures too. I wanted to take some of the same pictures as Ansel Adams and F. Solomons took around the turn of the last century, and see how much things have changed (they have). Here is a link to one of the pictures A. Adams took in the Lyell Fork (and when you see my picture later of the same thing...):

Thanks Doyle for the link. Your Silver Divide story made me take a short trip up to Devils Bathtub last week with my 15 year old son and 75 year old dad. Had fun exploring the peaks and valleys behind the tub also.
By the way, "feel" in my original post should have been "fill" but I guess "feel" would work also.

That hike is a lot of bang for effort. I would like to look at that basin behind the lake too. I hope you took pictures. You are good at that. Did you turn the lake on the right? Rocky? Easy?mountaineer wrote:Thanks Doyle for the link. Your Silver Divide story made me take a short trip up to Devils Bathtub last week with my 15 year old son and 75 year old dad. I just climbed the peak directly behind the Bathtub and hiked up the canyon to the base of those huge granite slabs. Didn't get all the way up to the lakes. I have scoped that area from the summit of Graveyard and it didn't look too bad to tell you the truth. I think I will plan a trip up there next year to complete the exploration. I got some decent pics around Bathtub and will post a couple when I get around to it. I couldn't stay away from camp for too long on this trip because my son was there and I didn't want to leave him by himself for too long.
