Just so you know, Tri-City Sporting Goods in Fremont is gone. I heard that they're building houses on the site. If you don't mind driving a little farther South, try Mel Cotton's in San Jose

Whoa, that is too bad. Perhaps I picked the right time to move out of the Bay Area to Fresno.

Mark, thanks for the offer regarding the Penn replacement spool. I am indeed interested, even though my "replacement" Quantum is still kicking and performing mighty well. On my recent Blackcap Basin-Woodchuck trip I feared I had left the reel behind at Woodchuck Lake but it turned out I had repacked it into my mess kit to more efficiently use space in my pack--the "replacement" is still going strong.
Since my fishing (etc.) website is still down, you can be distracted by geology stuff at: http://www.fresnostate.edu/csm/ees/facu ... ayshi.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Actually I was just checking my wife's still operational Penn and realized that the model number is not SS420, so I guess the replacement spool would probably not fit my Penn. Thanks again for the offer, though.
