Howdy all.

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Howdy all.

Hi, I'm John fron Carson City. Thought I would introduce myself. Which leads me to a suggestion for a new topic, introductions! I lived at South Tahoe from 1978 to 2000. I bought a home in Carson City 5 years ago. I've rambled the Sierra for a few years, climbed a few peaks, caught a few fish, done my share of snow camping. My old brother in law had a cabin in Mineral King, (lucky for me!) and I'm real familiar with the area, as well as the Tahoe to Ebbetts region. Unfortunately, I've had to have both my hips replaced due to Osteoarthritis. I don't get around as well as I used to, but I try. I'm certainly no Bob Burd. Just wanted to say Hello. Oh, and Snow Nymph, I found your web site about 2 weeks ago. Super site, I love it!
John.

Hi John!

I like the suggestion for the "introductions" topic! I think that there was something like this on HST before it went down last time, but maybe it was just a subject that that someone brought up; I do remember reading about the background of some of the posters and it was interesting. This forum has a real community feel to it, and it's enjoyable getting to know everyone :)

Hi John,

I agree with Rosie, the sense of community is great here.

Sometime I'd like to learn more about the Mineral King area from you. I've been up there 3 times, but I suspect you have much info which could be quite valuable for future wanderings.

Cheers,

Shawn

Thanks, John!

I remember seeing an introduction thread in the past. Good idea!

There's the "Show Yourself" thread under Campfire so you can see the person posting.

Thanks everyone! Hey Skibum, is Wolverton still a ski area? Just curious.

Hey John - I've wondered about this for months, and I finally have to ask about your Avatar picture... there is something very "Clockwork Orange-ish" about your picture. The milk kinda throws me off, but it's been a while since I've seen that movie. Anyway, just by making a generalization from you posts, I can't see you identifying with the characters in that movie. I'm just curious... :)
