Rain Rain go away, Flash flooding, not ok.

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

I saw that come across the TV about 30 minutes ago...on the flash flooding down there..hope all is okay. It is pouring down rain here in Meyers at the 6300 feet elevation...it was very warm this morning and all day. Very different 1st day of winter solstice for sure at Lake Tahoe this year.

MadeinTahoe, OK here, but not sure if downtown escaped. I would think they did though. Heavy rain let up a while ago. Are you in Christmas Valley? NIN? No, more like Zappa, Tchaikovsky, and Rob Zombie. And Beethoven's fifth, ala Clockwork Orange. Yes, a warm winter day.

I made it home, but I think some salmon were spawning up the traffic lane next to me on the highway.

I just keep telling myself what a good wet winter brings the following summer -- lots of good paddling, creeks that flow all season, meadows that stay green... :)

:) Me too. I only asked because the title of the post reminded me of the lyrics to one of their songs. JM21760: don't worry, I like all the stuff you listed too... :D

It's really not stopping!
http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/rev/

We've had an inch of rain since this morning, the heavy stuff is forecast for tonight and tomorrow. Too dang warm! The wind is just driving the rain sideways. It's looking like the Northern Sierra will open early next summer, (9000' and below) and the Southern Sierra, (10,000' and above) will have a ton of dense snowpack. I have standing water in my back yard, unusual for the desert. After our 2 feet of snow, and all this rain, I'm guessing Carson City is over 100% for the water year already, that being about 11". At 4:30 PM, it's 48F here at 4750', heavy rain. :\
