Trailtrekkers Birthday celebration on Memorial Weekend Part 1
Sat/Sun, May 26-27, 2007 (days 1 & 2 of 4)

Snow Nymph, SnowDude, CinnamonGirl and Trailtrekker spent four days in the Southern Sierra to celebrate Trailtrekker's birthday. Mtflyer and Tom Gossett hiked in with us Saturday. Tomcat and Ridgeline hiked in Sunday to bag Brown Mtn with us. What a great way to celebrate!

Part 2 will be up next week. I'm on a 9/80 schedule now and tomorrow is Friday for me! I love it!!

What a fun trip it must have been! Beautiful primroses.... but I can't say that I was too impressed with the cabins ;) !

Anyway... happy (belated) birthday Trailtrekker!! :birthday

Happy B'day TT.

It looks like you had a nice one. That area of the Sierra always seems more like the San Gabriels or the San Gorgonio wilderness than the Sierra to me - beautiful, but not like it is north of Cottonwood Lakes.

Seeing the truck pull up to the cabins almost ruined the day for TT! We hiked in all that way and were not happy to see vehicles. Once we got past it, it was worth it. So we altered our route and went xctry to avoid seeing the vehicles again. FUN! :D

That part of the Sierra is not as impressive as just north of it, but we couldn't get permits for any of the northern trailheads so we took what we could get. TT wanted a backpacking trip for her birthday, and she got it. :partyman: :birthday She was a happy princess!

It was nice having Mtfllyer, TomGossett, Tomcat and Ridgeline to join in the birthday hike!

All of the Sierra is beautiful, as are the mountain ranges south of the Sierra. I love spending time in the cooler months in the San Gabriel and the San Bernardino mountains closer to where I live - especially when it's a snowy winter.

Wow - sounds like lots of people were out in the Sierra if the permits to a lot of the trailheads were reserved.

Trailtrekkers Birthday celebration on Memorial Weekend Part 2
Mon/Tues, May 28-29, 2007 (days 3 & 4 of 4)

Monday, SnowDude chilled while Snow Nymph, CinnamonGirl and Trailtrekker hiked to Templeton Mountain Monday morning. It was farther than expected. We got back early afternoon, packed up and headed xctry for the PCT below Olancha Peak. It was a 14 mile day and we finally found a camp near water in the dark. Tuesday we packed up and headed back to Olancha Pass, made a decision to skip the third peak, then took the cow trail down. I was the only one that liked it. We got to Sage flat before noon and headed home.
