Whitney Portal cell phone reception

I will be exiting the JMT at Whitney Portal, and was wondering if anyone has any experience with cell phone reception in the area from the top of Mt Whitney to the trailhead. Thanks.

I have called out from UBL from the backside, friends have called out from the summit , this past Sat my cell rang at the Portal just after a burger, kinda surprised me. I have verizon.
