YETI Bear Proof Cooler?

Post by rlown »

https://www.rei.com/product/852554/yeti ... -65-cooler

Check out the video on this page with the Grizzly attacking the cooler. Still.. $400 buxx for a cooler? Probably won't be carrying one anytime soon.

That whole line is overpriced. Great design, but still, overpriced.

The only reason I looked at it was that it was an REI click-through ad on this site.. :D

Ha! Thanks. Yeah, seems REI has been really pushing that line (they change the banners, not me). Was in the Fresno store last week and there was practically an entire dedicated section downstairs, center of the store.

I met a group who was backpacking and touring the Sequoias this summer. They had one in their car and attested to its performance. One of them said that they thought YETI's patent may have expired due to the knock-off tumblers showing up in Walmart. I have one of the YETI branded cups and the knock-off I bought at Walmart for $10 performs identically to the YETI brand. They are equal performing coolers available too that are about $100 less.

I think if you want to test your cooler, you should put some food in it and place it in Tahoe Jeff's Garage..

I recently bought the Roadie and it really is in a class of its own. I've never had an ice chest that kept things cold for so long. Ya, they're hella expensive but I think they're worth it. We're gonna buy the Tundra 110 next year for camping too.

Not sure how this works for the HST site or ERIC, but I'd suggest a click through from this site to buy your Yeti 110. Might help fund the site. Can always arrange for an in-store pickup depending on which store you're buying from.
