Howard Weamer: Ostrander ranger

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Howard Weamer: Ostrander ranger

Post by gdurkee »

Campers:

This video was done a few years back but I just came across it again. A terrific -- and very short -- portrait of Howard Weamer, who's been the Ostrander Lake winter ranger for over 40 years. I was his comic relief for 20 of those years (did his days off...).

A great mountaineer. Worth watching.

Link is not working for me, just see a black box George.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Yep, still there. Mav -- try a different browser. With some videos, I often get a black box 'cause I've got an array of ad blockers and java blockers as plugins. This worked on Chrome for me... .

George, still looking chiseled as ever :unibrow:
If you don't know where you're going, then any path will get you there.
