Speaking of hiker envy (albeit in a much more epic category than standard trail hiking), you pretty much top my list buddy. Good fortune be with you.

Well maybe I will see you at VVR but we likely wont get there until about 8PM. We have to drop off Alpinemike's truck at Lodgepole, drive to Cedar Grove to give our resupply packages to the store and then drive all the way to VVR and Mike cannot get to Lodgepole until noon so we will get there when we do. Looking forward to Saturday BBQ though. :D

Your itineraries are mind blowing Rogue. 111 Days in the Sierra was one of the best things ive read all year, i hope you journal this one as well. Be safe and happy trails!

So first leg done with both success and failure. We climbed Abbot on its own day rather than on the move and it was very spicy with all the snow. I had to cut foot holds up into the chute and then the last leg to the ridge was around a 70 degree snow slope. It was so steep that every foot hold I cut the snow got steeper in front of me until I had to tunnel through the face of it then making a seriously high class technical class 3 set of moves to the top. On the way down I took to glissading down the lower snow slopes which turned scary as I was unable to stop. At one point I was flat on my stomach with my arms above my head trying everything I could to slow down and stop. Luckily made it down safely. Then we did bear creek spire which was what I thought to be intense class 4. Mike was going to turn around and not climb it until some climbers offered him a belay. I stopped shy of doing the 5.6 summit block though. Everyone else went down by rope while I made the free climb which got my blood pumping. We wimped out on Dade because the routes were terrible. We then also skipped out on Feather because the col was so snow filled and we had dealt with so much we said no. After the unnamed peak we did merriam and then Mike left it up to me if we wanted to do Royce or not And even though it was easy I got lazy and just said no since he had already done it. We then made the hike out being a couple days ahead of schedule. The high winds took my bucket 50 yards out into the lake and sunk it. The royce lakes had ice on them and were painfully cold so I was not going to swim for it. So today we drove down into Fresno to our dismay to replace it and Mike needs a new tent. So 3 days now at VVR and South we go.

In cedar grove now with fairly crappy wifi. This is the first time I have been able to get on anything other than facebook.

The last section went almost by the book. We did Darwin, spencer, huxley, warlow, fiske and then Mike did split and prater on the layover and then we did Bolton Brown but the horrible ridge traverse I didn't want to do so left it at that. We then did the two days of despair in the muro blanco. I have done all the major bushwhacks and I can safely say the muro blanco takes the crown as the absolute worst. We were completely wrecked when we finished it and I declared my retirement from bushwhacking.

We certainly had a prime view of that rocket that came in on the 27th as it flew directly over our head.

A guy named Dan joined us for the next 10 days so we will see how that goes.

Saw Chris and Mike at Cedar Grove on our way to pick up our permit for the Rae Lakes loop. They looked good and seemed to be in good spirits.
