TR - Whitney via Cottonwood Pass video

Post by hjldennis »

Hello,

I've been meaning to post a TR, but I am not much of a writer, so here is a video. Last summer from Horseshoe Meadow to Whitney and down the main trail. It was just about perfect with good weather and lack of crowd.

And this is far from Sierra, but it was really cool trip out in Canyonlands on a jeep, just a couple of weeks ago.

Nice Videos! My friend was out on the white rim trail over Thanksgiving in his Red Land Rover Discovery. I was going to tag along but I had other commitments that couldn't be shirked for some wheeling..

Thanks! I take it for granted, but I guess that I am lucky to have wife and kids who enjoy the outdoors, and don't mind not taking shower for days lol

Thanks for sharing the video. Inspiring to see the whole family accomplish the task in your video.

Brings back memories for me when my wife (then fiance) and I summited for the first time. Makes me look forward to when my child is older and outdoor adventures we will all have backpacking together as a family. Thanks again for sharing :).

Looks like it was a fantastic family trip with pretty cool elevation goals considering their ages. I think doing Whitney out of Cottonwood pass is the best way to enjoy it for trips under a week long. We started taking our boys on trips when they were 8 and 12. Those years were mostly Yosemite trips with much less elevation gain and total altitude. Our oldest still backpacks with us at age 32 including a northbound 2011 and southbound 2014 JMT trip. Our youngest son spends most of his free time rock climbing and only backpacks as a way to approach climbs.
