"if you're a male between the ages of 18 and 23 and drunk, you shouldn't hang out at the river. " Or in rattlesnake country [-X

I'd hazard a guess that we have maybe 10 people on this forum that are aged 18-23. Maybe the guests, but that's a different matter.

Guess all i'm hinting at is that most people who would heed your warning George, don't hang out here. They're on FB with friends.

Well, yep to both of you. More a statistical confirmation than a warning to anyone here.

Although sadly, you do get the classic person going in after the person in trouble. That last happened at Vernal Falls. At least three -- 4?? -- people going in. Pretty grim. Not too many years ago, there were two young girls in separate incidents in the Kaweah River (Sequoia NP).

But regarding the low numbers of young people -- reminds me to open up another topic, which I'll hope to do now.

Russ, the young made a mass exodus from FB when the old fogies found it. They use other forms that include hashtags, whatever those are  i'm not calling you an old fogie, cause we're the same age and I'm not a fogie yet. I'm just getting old.

I never exited FB as I refuse to use it. But I know a LOT about it and loath it. :) And no, I don't appreciate someone driving and posting to twitter, text or anything else, especially if they are behind me on the way anywhere.. There is a time and a place for everything.

And Jim.. You're not getting older, you're getting smarter. :)

I'm not too sure about smarter, but definitely more cynical. I refuse to use FB as well. I have two forums. That's the extent of my social media.

IRC! Boy, you might as well make a telnet reference... . (I have a t-shirt: One Does Not Simply Telnet To Mordor).
