Howdy HST
This is my first post and I'm looking for some advice on my upcoming trip to the Seven Gables/Vee Lake area. I'm wondering if anyone has insight on decent camping in the area? From what I can tell on TH Maps is that it has minimal trees? Also any insight on an approach to bag Seven Gables would be appreciated. Is the Southern approach from Lou Beverly Lake the best option?
Thanks
SNH

Hello SNHiker and welcome to HST
One doesn't need advice on "decent camping" anywhere in the East Fork of Bear Creek basin because level granite bedrock areas in that open above timberline basin are abundant. Instead just get there and then look around yourself while selecting a legal camp spot you like. As for climbing go over to summitpost.org and search on Seven Gables where there is thorough information on routes and whatnot.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Re: Seven Gables/Vee Lake Area Insight
Hope this isn't too late. The Vee Lakes area is above treeline. There are abundant campsites (ie plenty of flat spots) and it is a very pleasant to wander around that area. You can approach Seven Gables from either the Lou Beverly or Vee side and still keep the climb to class 2 (if that is your wish). I'd say the Lou Beverly side is easier because it doesn't involve the steep scree chute to the saddle which you do from the Vee side. The flip side is that you have to do a bit of improvising on the lower part of the climb from the Sandpiper side because you have to surmount some slabby cliffs via benches and small chutes--some care is needed to avoid some class 3 in that lower section. Above that its just an easy class 2 talus slope to the top.
