View from Mono Lake

Post by mountainLight »

A few weeks back I posted asking for info about good locations for nice views of the snow on the Sierra. This is before we had the dump of snow last week. Overall I didn't catch much that was worth showing but I enjoyed this view from Mono Lake. This is from the north side of the lake. I definatly will be going back for an early morning shot sometime in the future.

This is a stitch of 8 vertical shots. Looks a bit dark from this monitor at work. Hope it looks good from your end.

Awesome shot. Looks excellent on my monitor.

Did you drive from the bay area? I'm curious about how long it took and which way you went - was contemplating making the drive this weekend but am a little turned off by what looks like a long drive...

Thanks guys.

Trailblazer, yeah I came from the bay area. Went over the 88. If i remember it took about 1hr longer than what map.google.com stated. However that was to mammoth lakes. I drove up friday night got in around midnight, was there through sunset the next day and then headed back.

Trailblazer .. one more piece of info that might be useful. To get maps.google.com to caculate right I had it go from Livermore, ca to markleeville, ca and then markleeville, ca to mammoth lakes, ca etc.
