mineral king ?

Post by overheadx2 »

I have a permit for Lamarck to fish some of those lakes with a friend that loves fishing. I am reading that the rough fire smoke is pretty heavy in that area, so am thinking of changing it to Mineral King (south of the fire). I just got back from Mineral King and hiked the Sawtooth area, but the franklin lakes area looked very nice. A few questions, whats the fishing like in there, is it possible to do a loop from Franklin Pass, Claire lake and then up to Amphitheater lake with out going over class 3 Crystal Pass? Any other suggestions for fishing.

You have seen the webcam, little better today, yesterday was horrible, seems to change daily depending on the the winds. http://www.mk-webcam.net/

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Nope, lots of cliffs in this area, nothing lower then class 3, with good route finding!

My plans were for this weekend. There seems to be a few permits still available in the southern sierra. I may just go tuna fishing.
