All:

Short Term…It is sill looking like a big cool down for the Owens Valley and High Country starting on Thursday, as a Pacific trough drops down from Canada. For today however, temps will be in the normal range with light winds and mostly clear to partly cloudy skies. The High Country (8,000 ft.) will see daytime temps in the low 70s and evening temps in the mid 30s. The Owens Valley will have afternoon temps in the low 90s and evening temps in the low to mid 50s.

Long Term…On Thursday afternoon, the initial cold front will move through our area, producing strong winds and unseasonably cool temps. We can expect temps to drop and winds to pick in the High Country. On Friday another front will drive through the Eastern Sierra, producing continued cool temps, with some areas seeing a 20+ degrees drop in temperature. There will be winds in the 60+ mph range over the Crest and in the high passes. Friday, the High Country can expect daytime temps in the low 50s and nighttime temps in the upper 20s. The Owens Valley will have afternoon temps in the mid 70s and evening temps in the upper 40s. Right now, these systems look fairly dry and I don’t expect much precipt in the Owens Valley, but a light dusting over the Crest is possible on Friday. On Saturday, the trough will begin to depart and leave us with continued cool temps and breezy conditions. By Sunday and Monday, we will experience a warm up, with temps recovering to near normal.
