Colors, YEAHHHHH.
Soooooo, today Saturday 9/9, I got antsy and took a drive up to the Eastern Sierra mountains to look for Fall Colors. It is a little early, but I did find some.
Conway Summit Aspen grove is still green, and so is Jordan Basin’s. Further up on Virginia Lakes Road, there are some Aspen with a few yellow branches as well as yellow with brown spots.
Lee Vining Canyon, June Lake and Parker Mountain Side are also still green.
The Aspen grove along Sherwin Creek Road is beginning to look like a light lime color.
I did not go to Convict Lake and McGee Creek Canyon, because I figured it is too early. Bishop Creek Canyon……..mostly green, but there are a few orange/red Aspens along the road close to the Sabrina Basin. Lake Sabrina has some lime green Aspens. North Lake is just about all green, with just a few branches with yellow color. The big grove behind the lake is green, but I spotted a row of bare Aspens, what’s up with that! I also saw green Aspen leaves with big brown spots. The cold temperatures must be doing a job here. South Fork Bishop Creek has a few color patches, but it is just too early. I tried a few close-ups, but most of them are blurry…too much wind already.
Rock Creek Lake has the most color so far.
Not that it is spectacular, but there are some very nice views of orange Aspens along the ridges. Rock Creek Lake should be just about at peak when I go back in two weeks. The Aspens along the road toward the lake are still mostly green.If I get some photo processing done I will post some links here later
