1st Fall Colors

Just got back from a trip up to Lee Vining and then Rock Creek Lake. As I mentioned before, fall is beginning in the mountains. The signs are everywhere up there. Brown meadows, willows changing even more than last week, and then as we get to Rock Creek Lake, there before our eyes, the first aspens beginning to turn gold.

Don't believe me?

I know it's not much, but for me this is like the first pitch of Spring Training for a baseball fan. My favorite time of year has begun and it's only going to get better from here!!

Hi Steven,
just amazing. I have seen some of the Kinko, Fruitless Pear Tree and Chinese Pistache changing colors here in the Bay Area.
Lake Sabrina boat landing also reported some first color patches.

Keep us up-dated

Thanks for the report and picture - I'm headed to Rock Creek this coming weekend. It is really strange out there this year - the wildflowers are blooming at the same time as the fall colors are showing.

Was up on Monitor Pass today, and nothing there yet. :) Don't expect much up this way for at least another month, but I have my eyes on a nice little canyon that absolutely EXPLODES with color for about 2 minutes and 7 seconds every year! ;)
